Google Secures Search Results And Ad Rights To Dutch Portal

Marktplaats BV, the Netherlands' largest portal for want ads, has signed a deal with Google to provide AdSense ads and search engine results. Google won this deal in competition with Overture.

As first reported in DMeurope.com, Google will provide SERPs and AdSense ads as part of the agreement. Marktplaats.nl has over 1 million classified ads and boasts around 500,000 visitors a day. Marktplaats has sites in Spain, Germany, Canada, and Turkey.

Not only will Google provide search results and AdSense ads, it will also crawl outside sites to improve its search index for the Netherlands and elsewhere. The agreement is expected to receive a large boost when Marktplaats unveils a newly expanded travel section on its portal.
